In the grounds of the country club, there is a lovely Scottish Epsicopal Church - St Mary's - where you can have your wedding ceremony in a traditional church. Alternatively, you can also have the ceremony at the Hotel in one of their function rooms.
The bride and the bridesmaids got ready in one of the large suites in the Dalmahoy. There was lots of light and space for everyone to have a good time.
St Mary's Church is a lovely church, situated just at the entrance to the Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club.
The guests walked down from the hotel to the church. It's about a 5 minute walk from the hotel to the church, so for the bride and the bridesmaids and the bride's mum it might make sense to arrange transport. The hotel also provide a shuttle service for the wedding guests and there is a small car park behind the church, however, the guests are encouraged to park at the hotel as there is much more space.
Please make sure you speak to the minister if he is OK with photos being taken during the service.
There is a little garden around the church which is perfect for photos.
We took most of the family group photos behind the hotel venue. Some couples prefer to have all guests standing on the stairs, others prefer the photographer looking down from the stairs towards the grass area. Bear in mind, if some of your guests have mobility issues, it might be easier if they stay on the area in front of the stairs.
The canapés at the hotel are always amazing!!
I took some photos of the Bride & Groom first at the church, and then we ventured out on to the grass behind the hotel venue, where there is lots of amazing places for wedding photographs.
These are taken in front of the venue, but the hotel is a busy place, so it can happen that a taxi is parked right outside the front entrance or cars are driving past regularly. It's easier and more calm to take photos behind the venue.
This is one of the iconic photos taken at the Dalmahoy Hotel. For this the couple need to go up to the 2nd or 3rd floor and the photographer is one floor below to take the photos. Please ask the hotel if your wedding is the only one they have booked on the day. If your wedding is taking place in the bar and function room, they may have a smaller wedding on upstairs, very close to this iconic place in the Dalmahoy. If this is the case, you may not be allowed to go there for photos.
You can put your own decorations in place as you can see from the two very different setups in the same room.
